# Evernote > [!overview] > [os:: [[macOS]], [[iOS]], [[iPadOS]]] > [url:: ] > [manual:: ] > [uri:: ] > [shortcuts:: ] Evernote used to be the heart of my note-taking system for 13 years. ## Positives of Evernote I've realized this section has been basically all blank… but I ***loved*** Evernote during its prime. ## Downside of Evernote I believe [[Your greatest strength is your greatest weakness]]. While Evernote excelled at the ease of connected services to automate collecting, it also meant *nearly* consequence-free digital hoarding. (The good ol’ [[Collector’s fallacy]], which also explains any single “read it later” queue I’ve had!) The challenge I found is I found my notes were increasingly becoming siloed, and that I risked storing the same interesting article and not having a good system in place to surface or process it. Evernote became overwhelm as product development stagnated. ## Moving away from Evernote I switched away from Evernote in spring 2021 for a new personal workflow, replaced by [[Obsidian]] and [[DEVONthink]]. While I know some may shudder at replacing a single tool with two, I believe in [[Using the right tool for the job|using the right tool for the job]].
