# Resonance calendar The term Resonance Calendar comes from Notion user, [Ali Abdaal](https://aliabdaal.com/using-notion-as-a-resonance-calendar/), though I first heard of it from Obsidian Discord member, @SlRvb. Breaking it down to atomic parts, a resonance calendar encourages *active* consumption of ideas and content, instead of passive consumption. It encourages personal reflection. By making a record of podcasts, books, articles, and videos that have resonated with you on some level, and actively writing a summary of what drew you from that media, you have an active log. This log serves as a tool in a number of ways: idea generation, content generation, [[Zettelkasten]] fodder (if that’s your thing…), a searchable database of recommendations for when someone asks you “hey, what books do you recommend on typography?” You have all of that information available to you at hand, if you have a trusted and searchable system. --- # #### References Abdaal, A.
