Escobert doesn't really know what he's talking about… Leo says he's getting opinions, because there is something he may have to deal with. A clash of ideals. - Asks if they need more assistance. Nothing specific, just stay vigilent in the coming days. - Asks if Old Mo is in the Keep… he isn't, he typically stays in his home or disappears into the wilderness. - Lenore spends her time back in her room alone in the barracks, spending time looking at [[Ring Lenore finds|the ring]]. - Huxley resummons [[Fantoccio]] into a new form. - Shava plays some music on her bagpipes to keep spiriits up. - (Chiko asks what type of moon it is… last night was half waning, so today is new moon…) - A couple hours later… - Guards on patrol, tents being set up for sleeping in the courtyard. - Shava overhears [[Tarbaw Nighthill]] address the population. - Lenore is talking with people about their experiences during the raid, looking for information about the [[Cult of the Dragon]] - Majority heard stories or use the same example of what they've heard from other people, or Langdedrosa's fight. - Very common stories, no mention of hooded figures. - Focused on the fiends with the spikes. - Shava goes looking for food, and talks with [[Lucette Waterpike]]. - Lucette comments on her bagpipes. - Langdedrosa has rested and healed up. - Astrid leaves him to examine the new shield, and swaps it for her old one. - Astrid goes to sit with [[Marisa]]. - [[Markguth]] enters. They talk awkwardly for a moment, and then Astrid leaves. - Astrid leaves to go find Leonard. - Leonard was in his room, door locked, windows shuttered. He had been out of his armor and was getting dressed again. - Astrid says she wants to know one thing… "Is whatever is going on with you going to be a problem for this group or these people?" - Leonard: "I've been here for months, has anyone ever complained about me?" - Astrid: "I see you biting an enemy. You go paler and paler after every fight. It's my duty to keep people safe etc." - Leonard gets upset when she says "duty" but sees that he values self-interest over group help… put people at risk - They quibble back and forth. - Astrid was interested in Marisa because she is Markguth's sister… she has two kids etc… not quite sure what she means here. - Leonard tells Astrid that Lenore has had contact with the Cult (from [[2022-11-06_S04#^cult-talk|S04]]) - He finds it odd that a frail person like Lenore is investigating something dangerous and has lived to tell the tell the tale. - He tells Astrid that Lenore has had contact with someone "in" the Cult (that's how Chiko interpreted her contact who had recommended she come research in Greenest) - Astrid is suspicous of her too… she acts innocent yet is good in combat. - Leonard asks if she's looking for truth or honesty. Astrid says honesty. - It's my choice to protect others. - [[Shava]] and [[Nephina Silverfoot]] chat - Small chat, and then Nephina asks if Shava has seen Huxley… - …Huxley is sitting there dissecting a rat corpse… - Makeover time! New clothes are being offered… Huxley really hates it. They're clean and nice. And he doesn't want to wear them, so doesn't… - [[Shava]] and [[Faust Huxley]] go and talk with [[Leonard Draushum]] - Huxley asks "Are you a werewolf?" - Leonard says yes dryly. But then says "No, I am not a werewolf…" - Shava asks if he's a were-anything… - Huxley asks if he's contracted lycanthopy at any time… Nope. - Vampire? Nope. - Huxley asks what the condition is that causes him to grow teeth… - Leonard says it's a condition he has to protect others. - Shava says she has something she wants to say to Leonard privately. Huxley leaves. - "I want to ask for your help…" Worried about Huxley. Keep an eye on him. Being covered in blood basically is going to give people the wrong idea… - Also… are you alright? Pale. …yes. - [[Langdedrosa Cyanwrath]] and [[Lenore Sigyn|Lenore]] have a chat. - Lenore comes across Langdedrosa reading a book. Armor is scuffed, he looks tired, but is resting. Asks to join him for a moment. - She has questions for him about the invisible devils he had mentioned before. They pick up things like keys when invisible, and when they hold the items, the items go invisible too. Also, invisble before attacking. - Commonly around warlocks. Worth of a soul. A cult often has one charismatic warlock as a leader… - Lenore muses why all cults seem bad… why aren't there any good cults… but in a way, following Bahamut is a bit like a good cult, going out and doing good… - She wonders how long Langdedrosa has been following Bahamut… it's been a while. - She wonders if people are born to follow, and he says that following is a choice. - So what really brought you here? - He looks amused at how direct she is. Is it Lenore the researcher asking, or Lenore in general… She replies both. - He says many reasons. - The main one: Reports of cult activity. - What he has found here wasn't what he was expecting… What do rats and dragons have to do with each other? - He was looking into Cult of the Dragon specifically. - Is Greenest a honey pot? Langdedrosa wonders if people are being lured there for a reason by the Cult… - He has a younger brother who was part of the Cult… Has been following his trail. - Travelled together for a while. Brother = tactical warrior, not the spirtual type. - Half-brother, same mother, different fathers. He quickly moves on from this point. - His bother joined the Cult about a year ago. - Lenore asks if he's heard about Cult activity in Neverwinter. - Langdedrosa says they have members in Neverwinter… and all over the place. - She asks if he is looking for brother to save him… He says yes, or save him from himself. - She shows him the inside her shield. Offers to travel with him, or talk with him if he needs. - He offers to be someone she can talk with and open up. - She says it's tough to trust, given the type of people she's been around given what she researches… - He'll stay on for a couple weeks in Greenest. She may return to Candlekeep… - She stands and asks what he's reading. Smut novel "After Underdark…" - She blushes. It's absolutely from Gruda's collection, about drows. - Leonard seeks out everyone but Huxley to discuss Huxley's fashion advice. - Lenore thinks they're looking at surface issues, when it's masking something darker. - Lenore shares the fact that [[Fantoccio]] spied on her. - So they have an intervention with him… question him. - Specifically on spying on Lenore… - She says she doesn't appreciate being spied on when she's alone because of experiences with men in Greenest. Astrid says she can come to her as a guard if she's having problems. - Huxley seems to be telling the truth to everyone… - Admits he's training to become a necromancer… - Orphanage. Became his caretaker's assistant… - (Astrid speaks Elvish, not Sylvan…) - Goal to join the coven (a group of spellcasters in the same magical vein) - His caretaker is the leader of the coven… it sounds a lot like a cult. - Huxley offers to keep it on the downlow… - Leonard comes out and says he's a werewolf jokingly… (he's not) - Lenore doesn't understand where the hell this is coming from. (She's basically been at opposite ends of battles from Leonard so has missed all of these cues the party is convinced about…) - Astrid asks if anyone is in a Cult… specifically of Tiamat… - Shava says not yet… - Lenore questions her further for obvious reasons. - She re-states that she would be up to infiltrate the Cult, not *join* the Cult… - A group of black dragonborns are hunting [[Surina]] (also a black dragonborn…) - Lenore says she has a contact who tipped her off to come to Greenest - Is [[Surina]] the next clue that Lenore is looking for? Wants to know more about Surina and these dragonborn. - She's looking for her contact, mentions finding only the map that pointed her to Greenest - She has been looking for her contact there, and any clues to what's next - Lenore only said that she had gone to meet him, but found the place mostly empty, other than the map with Greenest circled. - Astrid got information from people she works with to come to Greenest - She's taking orders from someone… her captain told her to go to Greenest - She knows that kids are raised into the cult, she was following Marisa specifically - She doesn't say the name of the organization, but shows the Bahamut symbol - She's here hunting the cult. - Lenore says she knows it's dangerous to be a person researching the cult here… - Langdedrosa had mentioned this place could be a honeypot - Lenore says that the cult hides in plain sight, a network spread throughout the Sword Coast… a series of safehouses… - Astrid is suspicious of Marisa, is suspicious that she's in the cult. - Her husband vanished. - Lenore says they'd be more likely to kill the parents to take the kids - Astrid has kept it a secret that she follows Bahamut - Leonard asks if Cult followers are typically dragonborn or dragon-like… - Lenore says no, just as Bahamut followers aren't all dragonborns or dragon-like creatures. - Leo's anger before was more of a show - Leo makes a pledge to watch our back if we watch his - Leo says he's here for fame… but Lenore can tell that this is a lie he has told so many times, he believes it's true - Lenore doesn't make the pledge, but says she knows she has a target on her back as someone researching the cult… - The party disbands, and Leonard asks Astrid to go for a walk - Leo is also hunting the Cult; they took something from him (people he cares about… more than one) - Shared goal for hunting the Cult… - He shares something Lenore "didn't know"… they don't just hire mercenaries, but kobolds too. - She shares they like necromancers too. - She shares that she's actually a knight… - Leonard's opinion about Lenore didn't change… - Astrid isn't sure about her contact. The contact is looking into the Cult… but it doesn't add up. - Leonard hopes that Astrid remains suspicous of him, despite this conversation. - Leo and Astrid say they made a pretty good team fighting and protecting the rest… - Astrid mentioned that Lenore seemed able to hold her ground… - Day 3… Long rest!
