Except now Leo shows up. - As they kill bats and sturges, Lenore finds a staircase and heads down. - Roll a 1/d6 to trigger an encounter, and a 6/d6. Basically the worst possible combination. Cool! - A rumbling male's voice beyond some leather curtains. - Lenore motions for them to stay quiet, and motions for them to walk the other way. - At this point, the bats disperse, revealing a number of guard drakes and kobolds with readied actions to the northwest. They unleash on Astrid. - Shava casts Shatter then runs to a ledge to the north, and sees some creatures and black guards. - (Drawen also rolled a 1/d6 and 6/d6 combo… we're in trouble!) - Lenore creeps up the stairs and heals Astrid a little, and casts a toll the dead on the kobold. - (Things involving a blackmarch may be happening behind the curtain.) - More fighting ensues. - From behind the curtain, a black guard ([[Kevil]]) says to his drake Bessey, "You're not supposed to be here!" and comes to attack Lenore. "I am supposed to be here!" (nat20 on deception) - She tries casting Charm Person, but fails and continues to talk about how she's supposed to be here because of [[Hayla]] and for some reason she's supposed to be helping the cult, even though she does'nt know fully how… that's why she's here to understand… - And yes, her hands are up defensively. His hand is back on the hilt of his sword, defensively. - ([[Kevil]] is 5'-3".) - Astrid comes over and does bait and switch, stepping in front of Lenore. She begins talking with Kevil, and says she's her bodyguard, because Lenore is important to Hayla. - They talk with Kevil. Downstairs is like a meat locker. - Lenore asks where people went. People packed up yesterday. - Langdedrosa is here. And more black guards, including his brothers. - Lenore introduces herself, he introduces himself as [[Kevil]]. He takes off his guantlet, fire red veins. They shake hands, his hand is hot to the touch. - His brothers are here, [[Tevil]] and [[Bevil]] is upstairs. - Works for Odonth. Scary, but pays well. Met a couple years back. Odonth a couple years, the cult for a year. - He's not religious. - He heads back downstairs to the meat locker with Bessey so that they stay safe. - The party heads to the north east. - Shava steps on a trap. Lenore uses her item to force a reroll, and she makes the con save. She is confused for 6 seconds. - And then Huxley does the exact same thing but makes the save. - They decide to head upstairs. Lenore casts blessing of the trickster on Astrid. She goes first and spots a trap in the steps. - Up the steps are [[Langdedrosa Cyanwrath]] and [[Frulam Mondath]], [[Bevil]], a blackmarch and dragonclaw. It's a shrine to [[60 Games/62 Campaigns/2022-09 Hoard of the Dragon Queen/05 NPCs/Tiamat|Tiamat]], featuring the black head. There's a silver chest in the corner. [[Langdedrosa Cyanwrath]] is praying to the statue, and stands. - Langdedrosa: "Good morning." His eyes look cold, and he doesn't seem to recognize us. - Lenore says she was just there to get information. Says she was talking with Hayla yesterday, here for that. He takes a moment, seems to talk to her in his mind. He says she has one question. - "Do you know why the cult searches for the Oracle of Neverwinter?" - He looks bemused. "Yes." Then continues. "I can see why she's interested in you." He's amused at her gaul. - Langedrosa. "You spilled the blood of many of my breathern, and I don't like lies… even half ones. Prepare to repay in blood." (Or something to that extent!) - …and now we fight [[Langdedrosa Cyanwrath]]. Oh god. - Astrid starts, and manages to shove him prone. Leonard smacks him a bunch of times, and then Shava casts a web, restraining Landedrosa. - Lang breathes lightning breath at Shava and Leonard, and casts spiritual weapon next to Shava. - They focus on Shava, and Leonard goes down. Lenore heals them both, as Frulam casts spirit guardians. - Leonard goes to hit Lang, and misses. Lenore yells to distract him, and Leonard hits him, knocking him unconscious. - Shava disengages and, as a goblin, nimbly escapes, leaving Lenore surrounded by [[Bevil]] and the blackmarch. - Lenore casts her spirtual weapon towards Frulam, and then misses with a toll the dead. - The blackmarch goes after Shava (the spellcaster), and tells Bevil to attack the weak ones. He walks away from Lenore to go after Leonard. He misses, but the Dragonclaw takes Leonard down. - Lenore gets him up again, while continuing to strike (non-lethally) at Frulam with her spiritual weapon. Frulam loses concentration, and Shava is no longer being held in hold person. - Frulam drinks a potion, and casts Sanctuary on herself. That winds up being very helpful to Frulam. - Shava gives me bardic inspiration. - Frulam's held spell goes off, and casts Cure Wounds on [[Langdedrosa Cyanwrath]], bringing him back up. He rallies and heals Frulam. - Langdedrosa goes down again. When that happens, Leonard grabs Lang's weapon and pulls it away from his unconscious body. - Leonard grows teeth after killing Bevil, then bites the Blackmarch. - Lenore exams Frulam as she strikes with her spiritual weapon and casts toll the dead. She hasn't heard her speak yet, but off-hand doesn't recognized anything specific about her. - She's able to cast healing word without speaking… and brings [[Langdedrosa Cyanwrath]] back up again. And then she runs away. Huxley tries chasing her down, leaving the weapon. - Astrid takes Langdedrosa again, non-lethally. - Astrid, Leonard and Huxley all go after [[Frulam Mondath]] who is climbing up a rope away from them, while Shava picks up Langdedrosa's weapon. - Lenore begins binding the unconscious Langdedrosa with rope as [[Tevil]] walks in.
