## Notes
- Scenario
- We are prisoners in Castle Heterodyne
- No starting equipment or armor.
- GM starts with 3 fear
- Players start with 1 hope
- Previously the Heterodyne dynasty, but now run by Baron Wolfenbach.
- Very lawful regime.
- They've been having prisoners fix the Castle, though there are many defense mechanisms in the castle itself… hence they use prisoners.
- Points for fixing things
- But don't tell others how many points you have, because in theory, you could be released with enough points.
- Being overseen by Professor Barbara Durand
- While we may be trying to fix things… our party is trying to
- Characters
- [[demonem|Emma]] » [[Shayd Nihlo]]
- Underborne elf rogue (Nightwalker)
- Silvery hair, silver/white eyes
- Cocky, witty
- Has hope because of a strong sense of personal safety, since she can summon daggers
- Sent to Castle Heterodyne because she tried to break into the Baron's airship… unsuccessfully
- [[zyzyr|Zee]] » [[Kameka Mehameha]]
- "Lawful stupid"
- Orderborne Galapa Seraph (Winged Seraph)
- Sent to Castle Heterodyne because of being thrown under the bus by their establishment.
- Has hope because of…?
- Tricked by [[Levana Leafwing]] to being in her gang
- [[Nicole van der Hoeven]] » [[Levana Leafwing]]
- Wanderborne Goblin Bard (Wordsmith)
- Beads like braille woven into her hair, and her spells are contained there
- Outgoing and colourful
- Sent to Castle Heterodyne because her words got her in trouble
- Has hope because of she's lying her butt off to make it seem like she's worse than she is. She appears to be the toughest person of our crew.
- Invented a gang that she was a leader of: The Silent Arrows
- Pretended to be a part of [[Kameka Mehameha|Kameka's]] order, and now uses him as an enforcer in the prison
- [[Leah Ferguson]] » [[Imelda Blackfyre]]
- Loreborne Daemon Sorcerer (Elemental Origin, Fire)
- Sent to Castle Heterodyne because she was taken as a political prisoner by Baron Wolfenbach, but they were expecting a more typical Blackfyre daemon… and she was too nice. By a series of unfortunate misunderstandings, they thought she was actually evil and conniving, so Baron Wolfenbach tried to send her back to her family for another hostage… and they decided, no… we'll just send another, keep that one. So she was sent to Castle Heterodyne, where the guards realized she was actually really nice, and was basically going to be eaten alive, so let her keep her locket.
- Has hope because of having read too much gothic horror, and thinks she's just a character in a book.
- People die here every day… both by being shanked, or death by the rooms.
- Our party has an idea on how we think we'll get out of the Castle
- Our daily routines:
- [[Imelda Blackfyre|Imelda]] spends her day in the Devil Dog Room, to work with the clank dogs and understand them
- They are completely unfriendly, tear anyone to bits who is in there with them
- Imelda, of course, is oblivious, and sees this as an opportunity to play with the "puppies"
- Spends her day teaching the dogs how to play fetch, and rewarding them with treats (i.e. spare body parts)
- 11 with hope
- The runt brings the ball back the first time, and then other devil dogs joined in
- The Professor is very pleased with her work, even though she basically hasn't realized it was work
- The room is considered a "dead" roll to the Castle, so the Castle isn't observing it (i.e. the Castle doesn't control the devil dogs)
- [[Shayd Nihlo|Shayd]] spends her day in the Seraglio of Satyricus Heterodyne room
- A seraglio is basically a harem room for the previous dynasty
- The Seraglio is a dead room to the Castle as well
- Shayd is investigating one of the bedrooms; there is a machine hanging from the ceiling above a four-poster bed
- 21 with fear
- She *knows* what this machine does… (takes a stress)
- Has everything she needs to give a good report to Professor Durand… but then accidentally turns it on
- 11 with fear
- She does escape from the machine, but takes a stress
- [[Levana Leafwing|Levana]] spends her day in the Sleeptime Fun room
- It's a dead room, too.
- There's a giant clown clank in the room (think "can't sleep, clowns will eat me")
- Everyone who has ever entered this room has died; they have never been able to keep the clown from aggressively putting them to bed…
- Levana decides to try singing a lullaby to sleep, but she needs to activate it by coming into the room
- 25 with fear
- It does fall asleep as it walks over to her *very* slowly… takes a stress, as it falls asleep two inches from her face
- [[Kameka Mehameha|Kameka]] spends their day in the Calm Chamber (or maybe the Clam Chamber?)
- It's a live room. The Castle will be taunting him the entire time.
- It's a man-made fake grotto, with a large pool taking up the majority of the room
- Kameka is a turtle, so tries floating across the room
- The Castle asks Kameka to touch the bottom of the pool, and Kameka doesn't. Calls him "no fun"
- Kameka gets to the other side, and steps out of the pool. "I'll remember you were no fun."
- Successful; writes up their report for the Professor.
- That night, we meet back up. Trapped inside a room called "the Octogon"
- It's drafty and damp, and a live room… but the Castle doesn't torment them there.
- Tonight's the night we want to escape.
- The way we want to try escaping:
- The Corridor of Smoke
- The Reminder Stairs
- The Torture Room
- Dials, Dials, Dials room
- Gate of Lamps
- Equal danger from the Castle and the other prisoners
- Idea for escaping: Imelda shift into the face of Professor Durand, and make it seem like we have a thing we need to go do…
- Supplies
- [[Shayd Nihlo]]
- Two screwdrivers
- Gas mask
- Goggles
- [[Kameka Mehameha]]
- Rope
- Net
- Gas mask
- Goggles
- [[Levana Leafwing]]
- Oil lamp
- Gas mask
- Goggles
- [[Imelda Blackfyre]]
- Lab coat
- Clipboard and pen
- Lucky penny
- Gas mask
- Goggles
- We start our escape!
- Imelda uses her Uncanny Disguides to disguise herself as Professor Durand
- Pulls it off though one person is watching
- 18 with hope (including using impulsive luck)
- Asks the group to come with her…
- We head on up the ladder and into a crawl space
- Marching order
- [[Kameka Mehameha]]
- [[Shayd Nihlo]]
- [[Levana Leafwing]]
- [[Imelda Blackfyre]] as Professor Durand
- The voice of the Castle isn't calling us out on what we're doing… so that's good.
- We hear clanging. There are many forms of escape, but only one doesn't seem to be trapped (a chute going down)
- We decide to use the chute, but each of us get shunted a bit differently and are separated.
- This is the Gear Bridge.
- It's a giant horizontal gear, unstable. Long way down…
- The gears we're on aren't quite connected.
- The bridge is not completely connected.
- There's a door on either side of this room.
- There are obvious-looking controls by each door
- We decide the two on the ends ([[Kameka Mehameha]] and [[Imelda Blackfyre]] will both see what's behind each door to decide where to go…)
- We both roll 18 with hope
- When [[Imelda Blackfyre]] goes, she [[Mary Poppins (1964)]] it… and actually manages to materialize an umbrella that winds up being about to control the gears as she spins it.
- She really thinks that she's the main character in a novel, so doesn't question having an umbrella randomly appear.
- I do roll a 23 with fear to get everyone else across though…
- We hear a stamp on the other side of the bridge, and the clown clank ("The Joker") stomps out from the other side of the bridge. "I need more lullaby!" and is now pursuing [[Levana Leafwing]] for another lullaby.
