## Notes
- Links in the original pinned Discord post
- Safety tools
- No formal lines and veils but absolutely speak up if something is upsetting.
- The comfort of everyone is more important than the enjoyment of most.
- Discussion of the world
- [[Newfaire]] knowledge is fair game
- [[Fairelands]] knowledge is okay to know
- [[Hale]] is not necessary to know at this point
- [[Oldfaire]] knowedge will seep in
- Organizations
- [[Candela Obscura (Organization)|Candela Obscura]]
- Lighthouses throughout the [[Fairelands]]
- Predates even [[Oldfaire]]
- We are new recruits to [[Candela Obscura (Organization)|Candela Obscura]]
- Have gone through training
- Have learned about the [[Fourth Pharos]] (the "headquarters", of sorts)
- Storage locker for bleed stuff
- Astrolab contains the bleed
- We have only been there the once, and shouldn't really want to return
- Extra from the starting lore
- There is an interest in [[Jules Verne]]-style "space" flight
- Haven't quite gotten out of the atmosphere
- "The Great Dark" is a common phrase…
- "May the Great Dark take you" is like saying "go to hell"
- No one knows the etymology
- Character creation
- [[Nicole van der Hoeven]] » [[Calliope Nightshade]]
- [[Face]], [[60 Games/61 Tabletop/Candela Obscura/Details/Specialty/Journalist]]
- Doesn't work for a paper, but has private clients (more like a private investigator)
- Has repeat clients by word of mouth only
- Went to journalism school
- Grew up in Newfaire
- Came across magic during a case
- Retrieving a family heirloom, turns out it was magical…
- [[Silverslip]]
- [[demonem|Emma]] » [[Tarrin Bellweather]]
- [[Muscle]], [[60 Games/61 Tabletop/Candela Obscura/Details/Specialty/Explorer|Explorer]]
- 23 years old, so pretty young
- From [[Seasway]] (coastal village)
- Tightknit community
- Has to go into [[Newfaire]] at times, but prefers not to
- Parents disappeared when she was around 7
- She was raised by the community
- She became an explorer because she wanted to find out what happened to her parents
- Stumbled into [[Everhollow Lighthouse]], saw a thing, and was mesmerized by it
- The Lightkeeper pulled her back and saved her life
- The Lightkeeper became a mentor, did small tasks for them
- [[Tarrin Bellweather]] doesn't know yet that they were being sent on small tasks that became very dangerous work, even a very young age…
- Discovered by other members of Candela Obscura by accident, and so *they* insisted [[Tarrin Bellweather]] gets training
- [[Leah Ferguson]] » [[Roberta "Birdie" Campbell|Roberta “Birdie” Campbell]]
- Lives in the [[Sidle|the Sidle]]
- [[Brewed Enlightening]] in the [[Varnish]]
- A family business
- It happened when she was a kid
- Six months ago, the papers were filled with stories about a new gang that has invaded Newfaire
- Take a bank hostage, and then just steal *one* thing
- Others call them the Phoenix Gang
- Once the news started to come out, Birdie suspected she had seen them in her coffee shop
- They didn't *seem* like hardened criminals
- At some point they had had the map object with them at the coffee shop, which technically would have exposed her and the other patrons to bleed
- When the cops came to ask about it, other patrons gave descriptions, but Birdie didn't give information
- Another group came asking for information, and Birdie got a different sense about them
- Got the sense they wanted to help them with additional magical things…
- She trusted them, and told them about the people » [[Jezebel Moore]], a lightkeeper
- Convinced of her sincerity, "youth pastor" vibes, little understanding of sarcasm/cynicism
- Was told about [[Candela Obscura (Organization)|Candela Obscura]]
- [[bleepbloopdragon|Lisa]] » [[Eric Birtwistle]]
- A doctor who gets squeemish from blood
- From a very well-connected family
- Second-born
- Has an older, more successful brother
- Feels its his responsibility to be a good surgeon, because his father expects it of him
- A colleague always seemed to be doing better than him, had an object, he had wasted away and got sick and died…
- Eric would have loved to steal this amulet, but doesn't know enough about it to harness the power safely
- Candela Obscura are looking to give him a pass since he comes from a family… could give them access to certain resources…
- Relationships
- Eric and Calliope both come from money, and met at a fundraising gala
- Recognized each other at the training events
- Eric may have been a patron at the [[Brewed Enlightening]]
- [[Jezebel Moore]] is our lightkeeper, and the one who had taken us on our tour of the Fourth Pharos
- Mid thirties
- Lightkeepers are usually older or injured in Candela Obscura activities
- We are in our circle's safehouse
- We are a brand new circle, and going to have our first assignment
- She leaves us alone at a table to talk
- We chat. It's awkward.
- She returns with a woman in her 40s, [[Madam Fidovich]], in a long black cloak
- Does not look happy to be here, or to see us
- Doesn't call her Lightkeeper, but madam
- Your first mission is helping out [[Madam Fidovich]]
- She lost one of her teams about a year ago (there's a grimace)
- [[Madam Fidovich]] takes us to the [[Twilight Theatre]] in the [[Red Lamp]] district
- A burlesque theatre that has seen better days
- Low attendance
- Cheap shows
- Run by the proprietor, [[Hugo Garcia]]
- Reports of strange things… people went missing… but they can't remember what happened in the theatre
- We are there between the afternoon show and evening show
- Only the periphery has investigated, not the OUP etc.
- Questions along the way
- Eric asks if there is an traces of people gone missing
- Birdie asks if the team disappearance is related
- The team disappeared a year ago
- The disappearances have been during the past week
- Birdie asks if there are any similar cases
- Fidovich seems to take a disliking of Birdie as she asks inane questions
- Makes a point to say that magick kills, but doesn't actually answer the question
- Calliope asks to establish a pattern when people disappeared
- No set pattern, but not every night yet
- Does seem to be speeding up
- Calliope asks for who the Periphery contact is, in terms of whose work we need to double check
- [[Madam Fidovich]] leaves us a card if we need to be in touch
- It's an address (we don't know it, but it's a messaging service)
- Calliope and Birdie go to talk with [[Hugo Garcia]]
- Eric and Tarrin go to investigate the theatre
- The theatre is not locked… we just kind of… go… in…
- Calliope tries talking her way into the theatre by looking for a job at the burlesque show
- *Then* starts asking questions about missing people… and that gets his attention
- She gets a 6 on gilded on sway (first roll of the game) and doesn't really think her questions odd…
- People leave and don't give notice all the time… nothing all that weird.
- To do for [[2024-05-12_S02]]
- Name of our circle » but then later [[Andrew Pontious|apontious]] suggested we name *after* the first case?
- Our circle ability » [[Stamina Training]]
- What the heck Birdie is doing there!
