# Session S03 > [!overview] > [campaign:: [[Candela Obscura - The Great Dark|The Great Dark]]] > [session:: S03] > [prev:: [[2024-05-12_S02]]] > [next:: [[2024-05-26_S04]]] > [session date:: 2024-05-19] > [campaign date:: ] > [my pc:: [[Roberta "Birdie" Campbell|Roberta “Birdie” Campbell]]] > [dm:: [[Andrew Pontious|apontious]]] > [player:: [[Leah Ferguson]], [[Nicole van der Hoeven]], [[demonem|Emma]], [[bleepbloopdragon|Lisa]]] > [pcs:: [[Calliope Nightshade]], [[Eric Birtwistle]], [[Roberta "Birdie" Campbell|Roberta “Birdie” Campbell]], [[Tarrin Bellweather]]] > [active npc:: ] > [discussed npc:: ] > [active locations:: ] > [discussed locations:: ] > > --- > > (tldr:: Summary.) %% ### Starting notes: - Candace "Candy" Cashore %% ## Notes - After the show… - Birdie recommends to [[Hugo Garcia]] to deliver alcohol to the seats as a mechanism to get *into* the theatre to experience the phenomenon a bit more strongly (so that she can use [[Extend Your Senses]]…) - Callliope is worried about her performance and thinks she needs to step it up… wonders if she needs to play bait for whatever this is. - Convinces [[John Lyons]] to come to the performance tomorrow (extra protection) but in the guise as a date. - Eric basically didn't notice anything or remember he was supposed to investigate anything. - (New backstory: had been previously engaged to Laura Ashley Beaumont, but that broke off.) - Some general discussion about drugging the audience (Birdie thinks this is a horrible idea!) including amphetamines and scarlet (Birdie is really concerned about this!) - Prepping for the next night… - [[Tarrin Bellweather]] does thing having scarlet on hand may be a helpful thing, so goes out with [[Calliope Nightshade]] to buy some from an old contact, [[Herbert Barnes]]. Feels obligated to keep buying drugs from since Barnes thought it was for Tarrin… (first drug experience…) - Scarlet would be an upgrade at the [[Twilight Theatre]]. - [[Eric Birtwistle]] decides to spend the day working on a new persona at [[Calliope Nightshade|Calliope's]] recommendation… a sexy persona… or at least trying to be… they call themselves "David Blaine" - Goes for a makeover, and they look fabulous. But they wanted something incremental, and… they just went at it. - …then goes for a nap. - And then starts a plan for a public health clinic. - [[Calliope Nightshade]] heads to talk to the family of [[Anise Trilby]] (with [[Tarrin Bellweather|Tarrin]]. - Asks the maid what she thinks happens (fails the roll), so she doesn't really tell her anything. But Calliope gets the sense there's a lot of fear in this house? - Family goes through the motions of appearing worried about their daughter (performative) - This performative approach upsets Tarrin. This just makes them hostile towards Tarrin. - Family basically gets upset that their daughter isn't missing because she's special, but do get wound up that she's one of many missing people… - Calliope admits that she's there as a private investigator; they seem to like this - Calliope tries to split up the family to interview them. - Calliope interviews the father; he had gone to the [[Twilight Theatre]] to see what the theatre was like that his daughter, [[Anise Trilby]], was performing in… - She did have a boyfriend at one point that the parents approved of before she ran off. She had broken up with him, and was seeing people they didn't approve of. - [[Tarrin Bellweather|Tarrin]] apologizes to the mother for the outburst. Wants to know more about Anise. - Gets a +1 on rolls about finding Anise based on the lines of questions. - The mother provides more information that the father doesn't currently have about a current beau… or beaus? - Calliope and Tarrin go and talk with them. - There's a boyfriend and girlfriend. They seems glad someone is looking into it. - [[Roberta "Birdie" Campbell|Roberta “Birdie” Campbell]] just goes to work. - Second day performance evening. - Calliope gets Eric all set up as "David Blaine" and he blends in better for the environment. - Whatever the sense was last night… it feels like it's just going up from there, as opposed to starting from zero. - We sense stuff. The entire theatre seems to reflect …bleed? flare? Feels like something is going to come through somewhere in the theatre. - It's apparently targeting some NPC introduced last session after I had to leave (Bobby Jean). But also Calliope. Guess it's going for her life force or something? Nope. Calliope is the target. - Tarrin goes and talks with Calliope to tone it down? - Calliope asks [[Trishy Lu]] to go out instead of her… Trishy seems disappointed? - The intensity goes down when Calliope doesn't perform. - It rises again when [[Bobby Jean]] performs. - Stuff happens. A fissure opens at the back of the stage. - Eric tries to yell "fire" but finds it difficult to make an overt act. Everyone seems to be lethargic other than Bobby Jean. - He does yell, but no one really reacts. There's some kind of spell that keeps people inert. - Calliope takes out a handgun and tries to fire shots to get everyone to leave the studio. - The conqueror worm comes out of the fissure. - It's slimy. Big teeth. Looks hungry. - It's the cause of whatever the feeling is. - It's going for Calliope and/or [[Bobby Jean]]. Probably both. - (As a player, I really don't have enough information of what's going on in this world or this theatre, or why we'd be a part of Candela Obscura in the first place. It's a threat but there's no real reason to feel like it's a threat… it just is because we're saying it is…? Why are we even here? There are no character relationships. There are no stakes.)
