It punches through the wall. - Back down the stairs okay - Mr. Brodd gets Elsa out of the room, and tries to follow but [[Brigger Holmlund]] tackles him - He grips his arms to the point where it feels like they're about to be ripped off - Elsa drops down to her knees to be at eye level of Brigger; says she was worried that thing was coming for him, had seen him over the woman's body - He needs a couple days of rest; shop will be closed for the next couple days - Gives them meat labelled for [[Niklas]] - His dog is particular - About the creature - A man of mist and shadow - A man with mystique - Couldn't make out the face; first time encountered it - Brodd asks about the smell; the faint smell of flour, sugar… and darkness - Brodd notices he is sluggish and fatigued, whereas before he had been almost like an animal - Elsa also notices he is struggling with something he is not comfortable in sharing (shame); he is conflict - She thanks him for everything he is trying to do in the neighbourhood - We head to the bakery to pick Charles up a loaf of bread (and investigate the "flour" and "sugar" smell) - [[Charles]] & [[Dr. Niklas Windell]] are at [[Petersen's Bakery]] to buy bread - The young man is chatting up two young women - Portly man in his 40s fills only the bottom shelves - Thin tall man only fills the top shelves - Anna is barely tall enough to see over the top of the counter - The two women leave with a small wicker basket of bread; the women seemed happy chatting with the man, but the moment they leave, they seem exhausted or saddened (still holding the bread tightly) - The young man ([[Thorson Maelstrom]]) welcomes them: rye, wheat, and plan - Charles wants all of the bread. All of it. - Asks Anna which bread, and Anna seems happy and conversational. - The stout man fills the plain bread (bottom shelves) - Charles notices this man is tired, almost on autopilot - Charles notices he averts his gaze from customers - Charles tries introducing himself to the stout man but [[Thorson Maelstrom]] introduces himself; the stout man was [[Tor Petersen]] - [[Thorson Maelstrom]] has been working here about six months - [[Tor Petersen]] was going to file bankruptcy, but the new baker managed to turn things around - The tall man is a migrant from Eastern Europe - Charles tries to edge towards the kitchen at the back (fail and failed push) - They are asked to leave thanks to Charles - Anna seems a little tired and exhausted as they leave - She is about to bolt with the bread; Dr. Windell says they should walk back together - Mr. Brodd is walking with a little bit of a limp - All talk together and regroup while in line again - Elsa says nothing to Dr. Windell while they meet up, still embarrased - Anna says the meat smells… asks what is in it - Brodd asks Charlie to escort Elsa to the church - Charles is holding the meat package - Mr. Brodd, Anna and Dr. Windell head back to the castle - [[Algot Frisk]] greets them at the door, and eyes the half-eaten bread - Anna asks why Algot Frisk doesn't have a shadow, and Frisk deflects the question - Dr. Windell saves some bread for Charlie, and preps the rest for the children - Mr. Brodd starts explaining his injuries - Dr. Windell seems disinterested in this story - It's an intense stairedown between the two - Dr. Windell hears a scuffling of little feel from behind the cookbooks, and it's [[King Lord Plop]] - Says the bread smells good - Dr. Windell says he got it at [[Petersen's Bakery]], and gives a slice to [[King Lord Plop]] - Plop can tell who made the bread by eating it… Eastern European hands… a skilled baker - Dr. Windell asks about the "come freely" phrase but after a GM roll, he doesn't seem to know without more bread bribery… - Another GM roll… it's an old slavic saying, but a Swedish translation - [[King Lord Plop]] suggests talking to the baker - Mr. Brodd says he got into a scrap with the butcher - Mr. Brodd stays on Dr. Windell until he gets some medical attention, but Windell is putting him off - Dr. Windell gives the children some bread - Mr. Brodd notices that the children are rehearsing a play, but Windel ignores the details - The play features three characters (2 bakers, 1 butcher) - Second act; one baker likes the butcher, one doesn't trust him - "I change my mind, I don't want your bread anymore… I want your heads." - Anna tries to make sure that all of the children get bread before her - One kid is dressed as a butcher; two are dressed as bakers - One kid needs to practice their French accent - The play will be tonight - Mr. Brodd finally takes Dr. Windell by the arm to leave the room; Windell rips his arm back and takes the bread to Charles' room - The room is surprisingly tidy (i.e. military man) - The lingering smell of opium smoke… and probably Charles himself - Camera shifts over to [[Charles]] and [[Elsa Johansson]] - The package feels squishy - We chat about bread and Dr. Windell on the walk over - We arrive at the church. Attached to it is a makeshift wooden building (the welcome center) - Sign says as much - Migrants are in the courtyard, lining up to get supplies (food, clothing) - A language we don't understand that sounds slavic, but no Swedish - Elsa recognizes [[Niklas]] as he comes out of the welcome centre, and Natalia is following him - He's carrying a couple blankets and wrapped up food - Charles recognizes himself in these people - Elsa waves towards [[Niklas]] - Charles puts out his hand to be sniffed - The dog is smelling towards where he keeps his pipe - Elsa says [[Brigger Holmlund]] doesn't wish to be disturbed at the moment - Natalia survived the trip from England to here - Niklas went from Wallachia to London, then here - Elsa asks what [[Niklas]] does - Helps those who are interested in medicine, and provides obscure things - Charles prods for specifics - He rolls it up and gives Elsa a list (it's small) - He leans towards Elsa - Asks if she was walking around last night - Near the factory, late at night, after he dropped off Mr. Brodd - He inquires about her missing finger - Injury as a child - Both Elsa and Charles sense he's very fearful and not saying something - Tells her to stay close, clearly being looked out for by this Englishman… - Charles switches into English (Elsa doesn't understand the rest) - You had similar work in England? - Yes, men and women of medicine finding things hard to accquire. - Thanks for bringing the food for Natalia. - Elsa and Charles both fail a vigilance roll - Out of nowhere, there's an angry shout of men - We are shoved by the men with batons as they push their way into the welcome centre - Chaos errupts and people are scared, and scattering - An old man is being beaten by the men with batons - Looks to be a priest ([[Father Trosker]]) - Niklas and Natalia make a hasty retreat - Attackers are shouting in Swedish; the defenders are speaking in a slavic language - Charlie assumes they are cops, but they look to be regular people - Charles pulls Elsa back to slink away - Otherwise, she has frozen in fear - The others look like this has happened before - In Swedish, there are awful slurs being hurled - More towards Eastern Europeans - A battered old man ([[Father Trosker]]) bleeding from the head walks out of the centre - Burly body guards - Taking him towards the church - Eastern Orthodox Church - Charles has been to this welcome centre before for food and clothing - Charles gives two options (go back to the castle, or go into the church) - Elsa basically responds "yes" - Back to Windell & Brood - Succeeds a medicine check, but makes it hurts more than necessary… - Asks about Brodd and Elsa - "You're her… guardian?" Since she was a child - She still has family, but they're back home. Their fortunes haven't always faired well. - He's looking out for her until she has been married, as appointed by her father - Was her father's valet before he was appointed her guardian - Worked in the stables, then moved into the house - Family has been good to him - Has she had nightmares since was young? - Yes, since she was a child. - Brodd says he's not at liberty to share her private matters - It's a little difficult to come back to reality sometimes - (The seance itself took about an hour, but it felt much longer for Elsa) - Windell left her with Mr. Brodd, and it wasn't too long after she began screaming - Brodd says the nightmare happened quickly - Windell continues the staredown - If Elsa were to wed, would Mr. Brodd stay working for Elsa? - It would be up to Elsa and her father… - …and Dr. Windell says it would be up to the husband too. - They hear Algot Frisk - Elias Anderberg (Dr. Windell's assistant) has sent a telegram - Dr. Windell reads it privately - The young doctor says he knows you and says that Dr. Ekstrom, the medical examiner, is open to speak to Dr. Windell about what has been happening. It is important to meet him at the morgue tonight. - Dr. Windell excuses himself, just to get away from Mr. Brodd - Dr. Windell goes to speak with his assistant, Elias - Mr. Brodd feels much better, even if the bruise is going to last for a while - Charles and Elsa leave the church and welcome centre (it's around 3PM) - The bakery line is smaller now - The French baker is greeting his few customers - There's a lingering smell of trash from the French patisserie - There's a closed sign on the butcher's shop - They head back to the Castle - Just as Dr. Windell returns - She gives him the note from [[Niklas]] without having read it - It says "goods for purchase" preserved in the best formadehyde and chemicals - Fetus - A hand of a young man - A foot of a dog - A brain - He seems concerned, asks if she's okay - She's a terrible liar and says that she is fine — it has been a day - She goes inside to speak with Mr. Brodd - Camera focuses on Dr. Windell as he goes to his practice - Elias says he's able to get him audience with the medical examiner - Dr. Homegrun look slike he's ready to leave Uppsala, had a suitcase and coat - A young woman who had come in late the previous night, who said she had wanted to see her - Opens the record book; the name is Elsa Johansson - It was around nine or ten o'clock - This strikes Dr. Windell as surprising, since he was *with* Elsa at this time - She was worried about something and urgently wanted to speak with him - Her description is exactly like [[Elsa Johansson]] - She'll return tonight around 10 PM - Elias will be out by 6PM tonight - Elsa was quite odd and sounded frantic, perhaps right for the sanitarium - Having nightmares and visions - Looking for someone to presribe medicine to help calm her - Dr. Windell proceeds to the morgue - Dr. Windell sends a message out to say he'll be out for the evening - Busy night for next session - Dr. Windell meeting with the morgue - Dr. Windell's appointment with "Elsa" - The children's play
